My week began with my surgery event in Grangemouth. My office has been extremely busy with casework enquiries recently and these surgeries provide an excellent opportunity for anyone who has an enquiry to pop along and speak with me. Please remember, my office can always be contacted at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Members of the Scottish Parliament deliberated on Stage 3 of the Children (Care & Justice) (Scotland) Bill over Wednesday and Thursday. This is an important Bill to meet the needs of our young children. Alongside attending this debate, I also contributed to some Portfolio Questions throughout the week – you can listen back to my contributions on previous posts.
I met with two key businesses this week. I met with Phoenix Group, who recently undertook a survey into the attitudes towards working, saving and retirement of those over the age of 40. Their study will be useful in my work on the Finance & Public Administration Committee. The Scottish Retail Consortium is the trade association for retailers, and we had some great discussions about boosting economic growth and supporting businesses in Scotland.
I also met with members of the MS community from across Scotland at their MS Awareness Week drop-in event and visited the Scottish Hazards exhibition stall in the Scottish Parliament. It was great to meet with people who are affected by MS and find out more about the challenges they face in their everyday lives.
